Terms of Service

Last updated July 2026

This is a plain-language draft to get you started. Have a qualified lawyer in your jurisdiction review and adapt it before you rely on it for a paid product.

1. What Asfixio is

Asfixio is a software tool that helps researchers draft peer reviews of scientific manuscripts, abstracts, posters, chapters, and related documents. It produces drafts. You, the reviewer, are responsible for reading, editing, verifying, and signing any review you submit. Asfixio is not a substitute for your own scientific judgment and does not provide medical, legal, or professional advice.

2. Your responsibilities as a reviewer

  • Many journals restrict or prohibit the use of AI tools in peer review, and some forbid uploading confidential manuscripts to third-party services. It is your responsibility to know and follow the policy of the journal or venue you are reviewing for. Do not upload material you are not permitted to.
  • You must have the right to submit any content you upload.
  • You are solely responsible for the content of any review you submit to a journal, including verifying every claim, citation, and recommendation.

3. Accounts

You must provide accurate information, keep your password secure, and are responsible for activity under your account. You must be able to form a binding contract to use the service.

4. Subscriptions and billing

Paid plans are billed in advance on a recurring basis through our payment processor, Stripe. You can cancel at any time through the billing portal; cancellation takes effect at the end of the current billing period, and we do not provide prorated refunds except where required by law. Plan features and limits are described on the pricing page and may change with reasonable notice.

5. Acceptable use

Do not use Asfixio to break the law, to violate a journal's policies, to attempt to access other users' data, to overload or probe the service, or to generate content that is fraudulent or harmful. We may suspend accounts that do.

6. AI-generated output

Reviews, fact-checks, and other output are generated by large language models and may contain errors or omissions despite the safeguards we build in. Output is provided "as is." You must independently verify anything you rely on.

7. Disclaimers and liability

The service is provided without warranties of any kind to the extent permitted by law. We are not liable for indirect or consequential damages, and our total liability is limited to the amount you paid us in the twelve months before the claim.

8. Changes and contact

We may update these terms; material changes will be communicated to account holders. Continued use after a change means you accept it. Questions: contact the address shown on the site.
